International wrestling competitions among youth for the prize of the President are held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Resolution of the President "On measures for the further development of Olympic wrestling" was adopted.

The resolution defines the main directions for the development of Olympic sports wrestling (freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling) in 2022-2024.

According to the resolution, starting from 2023, the following events will be held annually among men’s and women’s wrestling teams in all regions of the republic (in the Olympic and international weight categories):

- international sports competitions for the prize of the President among youth;

- international sports competitions "Uzbekistan-Grand Prix" among juniors;

- international sports competitions "New Uzbekistan" among adults;

- competitions "Minister’s Cup" in the system of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, "Chairman’s Cup" in the system of the State Security Service, "Commander’s Cup" in the National Guard system, "Cup of Chairman Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan", "Cup Regional Khokim” and “Tashkent Khokim’s Cup” in the local government system.

A decision was made to include wrestling in the program of sports competitions "Barkamol avlod" and "Universiade", held among pupils and students of secondary special, professional and higher educational organizations.

A decision was made to gradually increase, starting from the 2023/2024 academic year, the current parameters of the state order for admission to training in wrestling at the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports.

From 2023, it was decided to create sections and departments for at least one type of wrestling in sports schools, training centers for Olympic and Paralympic sports, as well as for two types of wrestling - in specialized sports schools.

The results of athletes participating in the championships and cups of Uzbekistan in wrestling will be evaluated by qualified foreign judges.
