Uzbekistan receives gratuitous assistance from the Government of Japan within the framework of the “Program of Economic and Social Development”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 August, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, Mr. Yoshinori Fujiyama, together with a member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament, Mr. Keiji Furuya, who arrived on a visit from Japan, took part in the Reception Ceremony - transfer of medical equipment provided under the Donations of the Government of Japan "Program of Economic and Social Development".

The solemn ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health, Mr. Bekhzod Musayev, and other interested persons of the two countries.

The exchange notes for grant aid (total amount of 500 million yen (about US$4.6 million)) were signed in June 2020, when the world was facing an unprecedented crisis of a new coronavirus infection. As part of this program, three CT scanners and one mobile medical container made using advanced technologies were provided to medical institutions.

Scanners for computed tomography are indispensable in the diagnosis of new coronavirus infections and other serious diseases. In addition, the mobile medical container is equipped with equipment that allows for the most advanced medical procedures, due to the mobility they can be deployed on site to provide modern medical care to the local population, and in the event of a natural disaster, they can be quickly used even in emergency situations. It is expected that Japanese technologies will contribute to the provision of quality medical services and the improvement of measures to prevent natural disasters in Uzbekistan.
