Uzbek chess players head to the World Chess Olympiad
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, 10 strongest chess players of Uzbekistan left the Tashkent airport for the city of Chennai (India) to participate in the 44th World Chess Olympiad.
“I wish our athletes success, good luck and strength at the Olympics. This is an important milestone for us. For the first time, our team is ranked 14th in the world rankings. Therefore, the guys face important tasks - to show a strong game and win the title to host the World Olympiad in Uzbekistan in 2026. The team is motivated, inspired and well prepared. There are big victories ahead. In addition, chess sports are supported by the government headed by the president,” concluded the head of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, Alisher Sadullayev.
Also, the coach and representatives of the Agency for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan gave warm wishes and instructions to the athletes.
