Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 July 2022, a round table was held at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the topic "Priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the opening of the meeting, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration Adkham Bekmurodov, UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Uzbekistan Roli Astkhan and others made speeches.
Vladimir Norov noted in his report that today the Republic of Uzbekistan, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is implementing an open, consistent and deeply thought-out foreign policy course that allows it to effectively promote the national interests of the country and adequately respond to modern international challenges.
At the initiative of the Head of State, specific and long-term goals set out in the “Action Strategy for the Development of Uzbekistan in Five Priority Areas in 2017-2021” have been achieved. Particular attention was paid to enhancing the role and authority of Uzbekistan in the regional and international arena. As a result of the implementation of the Development Strategy, the political, economic and cultural relations of Uzbekistan with neighboring countries, major world powers and international institutions have reached a qualitatively new, unprecedentedly active level.
In the era of cardinal transformations carried out in the country, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev identified new, even more important and relevant goals and objectives of foreign policy, which are reflected in the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.
The current global changes in the world, characterized by the growth of geopolitical tension, have a negative impact on the countries of Central Asia, neighboring and other regions. In addition, the ongoing pandemic barriers and restrictions imposed in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and its new strains have a negative impact on all areas of international cooperation, primarily on economic and logistical ties.
In the current conditions, the need was noted for further expanding the geography of foreign policy activities, intensifying cooperation with foreign partners, primarily with neighboring countries, at various levels and in priority areas, systematic monitoring of ongoing changes in the region and the world, timely and comprehensive response to emerging problems.
Within the framework of the round table Mr Norov also answered a number of questions from the media.
During the thematic sessions, the meeting participants discussed in detail the current and priority areas of the foreign policy of the "New Uzbekistan", as well as large-scale reforms and achievements of the country, taking into account modern challenges and threats.
The measures taken and initiatives aimed at promoting a positive international image of the "New Uzbekistan" in foreign policy, ensuring the authoritative position of the country in the world community, its high status in prestigious international ratings are considered.
Representatives of ministries and departments, research and expert-analytical institutions made presentations on various aspects of foreign policy and foreign economic activity.
As a result of the event, it is planned to publish a special collection of speeches by speakers with relevant recommendations and proposals.
