Parliament of Uzbekistan supports the decree of the President on the introduction of a state of emergency in Karakalpakstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- The Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan supported the decision of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to declare a state of emergency in Karakalpakstan.

“Approve the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 2, 2022 “On the introduction of a state of emergency on the territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan,” the text of the joint resolution of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis says.

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the introduction of a state of emergency in the territory of Karakalpakstan until 2 August 2022.

On 1 July, an illegal demonstration was held in Nukus due to amendments to the constitution of Uzbekistan.
