Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A variety of the omicron-strain of coronavirus, Stealth-Omicron BA.2, has been identified in Uzbekistan. This was announced in an interview with UzA by the head of the Service for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health (SES) Bakhodir Yusupaliyev.
Stealth-Omicron BA.2 is considered one of the most contagious variants of the coronavirus.
Bakhodir Yusupaliyev noted that this strain was detected in Uzbekistan and is observed in patients with coronavirus infection. Analysis of the virus genome (sequencing) at the Center for Advanced Technologies of the Ministry of Innovative Development revealed the Omicron strain in 67% of those infected, and Stealth-Omicron BA.2 in 33%, he added.
The head of the SES stressed that today the situation with coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan. But, he added, that over the past two years in July-August, there was an increase in the incidence.
He stated that in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, it is important to accelerate the vaccination of the population against coronavirus infection and revaccination with a booster dose.
It should be noted that over the past week there has been a slight increase in the dynamics of the disease COVID-19.
