Issues of attracting large companies of the Republic of Korea and organizing and expanding BPO activities in Uzbekistan were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 27 May, a meeting was held at Inha University in Tashkent between the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kim Hee-sang, Vice-President of the Research Institute Electronics and Telecommunications (ETRI) Park Jong-hyun and a delegation consisting of representatives from leading IT companies in Korea.

The main goal of the meeting was the implementation of agreements on mutually beneficial cooperation, the development of IT education, the strengthening of political, economic and cultural ties reached during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea in December 2021.

At the meeting, issues of attracting large companies of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan and expanding their activities in Uzbekistan in the field of BPO were discussed.

At the same time, attention was paid to digitalization, the development of artificial intelligence and the further development of cooperation in the field of ICT.

As you know, on 14 April, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting on the results achieved in the field of information technology and tasks for 2022. During this meeting, the head of state stressed the need to turn our country into an IT center. Such partnerships are once again showing results in advanced sectors of the economy, including ICT.

In this regard, the meeting discussed the issues of attracting Korean companies to Uzbekistan to turn it into a regional IT hub.

Today, the Republic of Korea is a world leader in the development of information technology and e-government. The Minister of ICT emphasized that the Republic of Korea is one of the most important partners of Uzbekistan in the development of this sector, noting that now the Republic of Korea will work together to attract large companies to Uzbekistan and expand their activities in the field of BPO. He expressed gratitude for the contribution of Korean partners in this sector.
