Agreements reached in London to expand Uzbek-British cooperation in the field of education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The World Education Forum is being held in London with the participation of delegates from more than 110 countries, including Uzbekistan.
The delegation of Uzbekistan, which included the First Deputy of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education Komiljon Karimov, First Deputy Minister of Public Education Usman Sharifkhojaev and Director of the Agency for Presidential Educational Institutions Khilola Umarova, held a series of meetings with representatives of official and academic circles of Great Britain as part of the event.
In particular, negotiations were held with Mark Hanbury, Advisor to the Education Department of the British Ministry of International Trade, Baroness Alison Sutty, Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth Shepherd, Managing Director of the Times Higher Education International Ranking of the World’s Leading Universities, Lawrence Anderson, Vice President of Pearson International Education Company, Chairman of York Press Limited Habib Sayeh and others.
As a result of the meetings, a number of agreements were reached in such areas as attracting British experience to the process of modernizing the educational system of Uzbekistan, improving the positions of Uzbek educational institutions in international rankings, student exchange, professional development of teachers, development of educational plans and programs, etc.
Also, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Agency of Presidential Educational Institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the educational organization "Cambridge University Press & Assessment", which provides for the involvement of British assistance in conducting entrance exams to presidential schools in the country, as well as the development of joint curricula.
