The new edition of the Labor Code serves to balance the interests of employees and employers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, at the 24th plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On approval of the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was considered.

The senators noted that the current Labor Code, adopted in 1995, does not correspond to modern realities and does not take into account the responsibility of the employer, the active development of new, various forms of involving citizens in labor activities in the process of developing private entrepreneurship, and also does not create sufficient conditions for employers to in particular, to choose simpler forms of attracting additional workers to work.

It was emphasized that the experience of foreign countries and international organizations, including Germany, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Latvia, Estonia, Japan, South Korea and the CIS countries, was deeply studied when developing the Labor Code in a new edition.

The Code is devoted to individual institutions of labor law and includes new norms, such as employment, individual labor relations, professional training, retraining and advanced training of workers, specifics of labor regulation of certain categories of workers, protection of labor rights of workers, consideration of labor disputes.

Also, during the preliminary consideration of the new Code in the committees of the Senate, proposals received from relevant state and non-state organizations, social networks and citizens were widely discussed.

In particular, special attention was paid to the basic principles of legal regulation of individual labor relations and public relations directly related to them, factors of discrimination in labor relations, the rules included in relation to official investigations and collective labor disputes.

It was noted that the adoption of the Labor Code in a new edition serves to ensure a balance of interests of employees and employers, taking into account the requirements of a market economy, to simplify the implementation of labor legislation in the field of small business and individual entrepreneurship, as well as to take into account the peculiarities of the legal regulation of the labor of employees in these areas, to bring the provisions of the Labor Code in accordance with the norms of international law, including international treaties ratified by the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Upon completion of the discussion, the Law was approved by the senators.
