Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A World Bank delegation led by the Bank’s Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, Marco Mantovanelli, held an online meeting on 18 January with representatives of Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya and Bukhara regions, social workers, entrepreneurs and the public to discuss the World Bank Partnership Program bank for 2022-2026.
The online meeting was also attended by Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Shukhrat Matkarimov and Head of the Department for Cooperation with the World Bank Group Begzod Khamroev.
During the meeting, representatives of the regions presented their proposals for cooperation with the World Bank in priority areas.
In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers from 29 November 2021 No. 728-F, 10 working groups were formed in 10 priority areas of cooperation in order to prepare a cooperation program for 2022-2026 in cooperation with the World Bank and combine it with the country’s development strategy.
During the meeting, the results of the cooperation program of the World Bank Group with Uzbekistan for 2016-2021, achievements, the current portfolio of World Bank programs in Uzbekistan (as of 1 January 2022, 25 projects totaling about US$5.0 billion), proposals on the main directions of the formation of a new partnership program.
Discussions are underway on the World Bank Cooperation Program for 2022-2026, meetings with representatives of Samarkand, Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions are scheduled in line.
