Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Public Fund for the Support and Development of National Mass Media Saida Mirziyoyeva spoke about the domestic series Sabria on the Sevimli TV channel, where scenes of violence against a woman were shown.
“Certainly, there is freedom of speech and creative expression in our country. But I will use my right as a viewer to express my attitude towards the domestic TV series Sabria, which runs in prime time on the Sevimli channel and gathers a million-strong audience.
“I will not talk about the artistic component, it is simply not there. And I am more than sure that there is not a single woman among the creators of the series. Because I have never seen so much hatred towards women in the script in any film,: she added.
“Why is there complete and precise instructions for taking drugs in the plot? In this case, no conclusion is offered. The formulaic, snake-like competition of women at work is clearly written by a sexist who draws his knowledge from anecdotes. And the most unpleasant and repulsive are the scenes of violence against women; and as the only way out of the situation - to commit suicide. “Great” advice!” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.
“Women are shown as limited, treacherous, weak and guilty creatures. Feature films are one of the methods for shaping the modern agenda in society. We are making incredible efforts to ensure that gender equality and respect for women become the norm in our society. Each of us who owns the audience has a huge responsibility for the word,” she underlined.
“But such series impede the development of gender equality. There is no common sense in them, only painful fantasies about the life of Uzbekistan. Do you think we can demand from creative people to stop creating outright hack work, which, moreover, greatly harms the image of the girls of Uzbekistan? How could suicide be shown on the screen?,” Saida Mirziyoyeva noted.
“I call on arts councils and responsible organizations to evaluate such content in terms of law and ethics. Our women do not deserve such an attitude from the cinema. Neither private nor public!” Saida Mirziyoyeva noted.
