New thermal power plant in Tashkent region starts to supply electricity to the country’s unified energy system

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, 14 January 2022, at 11:15 a.m., a new thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW, built by the Turkish company Aksa Enerji in Kibray district of Tashkent region, began supplying to the unified power grid of Uzbekistan.

This TPP is designed to generate 2.0 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

Due to the high efficiency of modern combined cycle equipment, the operation of the station saves 290 million cubic meters of natural gas per year. The saved natural gas will generate an additional 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

The US$150 million project is being fully financed by the Turkish company Aksa Enerji.

It should be noted that this power plant is the second thermal power plant commissioned by Aksa Enerji in the country. The first thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW was put into operation on 11 January 2021 in Bukhara region.
