Uzbekistan plans to modernize gas-distributing system
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Government of Uzbekistan adopted decision to modernize gas-distributing system of the country within 2009-2013. The government will invest US$237.4 million to this purpose.

It is planned that Uztransgaz (Uzbek Gas Transportation) will purchase 90 units of special equipment for linear-exploitation services worth US$160 million within three years.

Uztransgaz also plans to introduce system on management and technologic communication of gas transport network (SCADA) worth US$77.4 million. The extension of the system will be 2,000 km of optic-fiber communication line.

The project will be financed due to own resources of Uztransgas for US$153.8 million and foreign credits for US$83.6 million.

Currently, the work is underway on attraction of credit for US$73.6 million of China Eximbank. The negotiations are also underway with equipment suppliers and preparation of tender documentations.

According to Uztransgaz, currently total extension of gas pipeline in Uzbekistan makes up over 13,000 km. Uztransgaz is part of Uzbekneftegaz national holding company and controls transportation and gas supplies in Uzbekistan.
