Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The National Human Rights Education Program, consortia of universities on human rights education, support for scientific research in this area and other issues are in the focus of an international conference organized at the initiative of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan on human rights.
The conference, timed to coincide with International Human Rights Day, is being held in a hybrid mode on 10-11 December 2021. It is organized in partnership with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan and the Regional Office of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia.
Forum participants discuss the interim results of the implementation of the UN Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training and the World Program for Human Rights Education.
During 2 plenary sessions and parallel session discussions of the conference "Human Rights Education: International Experience and National Practice", about 30 experts in the field of human rights will make presentations. The main focus is the knowledge of young people in the field of human rights and the growth of professionalism of teachers in this area.
Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, Director of the Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Rights Human Rights Watch OSCE Mateo Mikkachi, OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Pierre von Arx, Head of the Regional Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia Richard Komenda and others attended the event.
The international conference is attended by heads of structures in the UN system, OSCE, Council of Europe, ILO, IOM, UNESCO, USAID, Foundation. Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Friedrich Ebert, Representative Office of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA), representatives of the diplomatic corps, foreign and national human rights institutions, civil society institutions, scientists and experts in the field of human rights education.
The forum participants also discussed the texts of the National Program for Human Rights Education and the "Road Map" for its implementation. The drafts of these documents are currently posted on the official website of the NCHR http://pravacheloveka.uz for making proposals to the public. Public comment will run until 15 December. The international conference is dedicated to a number of significant dates - the 25th anniversary of the founding of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on Education and Training in the Field of Human Rights.
