Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Expert of EY moderated a session on the contribution of women entrepreneurs to the economy on 3 December in Tashkent.
Regional women political leaders, women entrepreneurs, representatives of multilateral organizations and NGOs met at the first meeting of the Discussion Club of Women Entrepreneurs of Central Asia “Enhancing the Contribution of Women Entrepreneurs to Economic Growth and Prosperity”.
The Discussion Club of Women Entrepreneurs of Central Asia (Discussion Club) was created under the auspices of the Forum of Women Leaders of Central Asia. The Forum is an informal coalition of women leaders whose activities are aimed at promoting and strengthening the role of all women in promoting sustainable development and maintaining peace and security in the region.
It was officially launched on 23 December 2020 at a meeting of women leaders from Central Asia, organized by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Forum is represented by five countries of the Central Asia region, namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Dilara Shurshenova, EY Consulting Practice Manager, moderated a panel session on the role of women’s communities in supporting economic recovery and growth after COVID-19, and empowering women entrepreneurs to succeed in global markets.
Dilara Shurshenova said: “We create an inclusive culture in which we unleash the potential of women in business to transform society and improve business. I am delighted to be part of this transformation.”
Representatives of women’s associations from Central Asian countries shared their experience in attracting competent, motivated and ambitious women entrepreneurs. The session presented the best strategies to attract and support women-led SMEs to improve recovery from COVID-19.
“It’s great that there are organizations that support women in business, especially during a pandemic. It’s nice to observe close regional cooperation on this issue and share experiences,” one of the participants admits.
Participation in the event is another step in the contribution of EY experts to support regional initiatives on women’s empowerment and gender inclusion.
The speakers of the event were representatives of the EBRD, UNDP, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
