Abdulaziz Kamilov takes part in the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 2 December 2021, the 28th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe was held in Stockholm, in which the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov took part.

The meeting, chaired by Sweden, discussed topical issues of interaction in the OSCE area in the military-political, economic, environmental and human dimensions.

In his speech, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov briefed the meeting participants on the ongoing democratic reforms in the country, measures to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, and ensure the rule of law.

The positive dynamics of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE was noted, including within the framework of projects to provide technical assistance in the areas of security and sustainable development. The readiness of the Uzbek side to continue joint work and a balanced increase in the number of demanded programs in all dimensions was emphasized.

The importance of strengthening the economic and environmental components in the activities of the OSCE was pointed out, which could contribute to a fuller implementation of the concept of comprehensive security. In this regard, it was stated that it is necessary to make concerted efforts to expand mutual trade, deepen industrial cooperation, introduce new technologies in the agricultural sector, and intensify cooperation in matters of nature conservation and biodiversity conservation.

Special attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan, which is an OSCE partner country. The head of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry called for urgent measures to provide the Afghan people with the necessary assistance in order to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe in the country.
