Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 November 2021, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the 14th Cooperation Forum "Republic of Korea - Central Asia" in Dushanbe (Tajikistan).
This year, the topics for discussion were the prospects for further development of interaction in the fields of combating climate change, green economy, ensuring carbon neutrality, healthcare and digitalization.
Speaking at the event, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov outlined the vision of our country on the main issues on the agenda. In particular, in the field of combating climate challenges, it was reported about the readiness of the Uzbek side to take an active part in international efforts to promote the "green" agenda and curb the processes of climate change. A proposal was made to develop coordinated measures to achieve carbon neutrality of the region’s economies.
The importance of continuing close coordination to counter the pandemic, including the production of vaccines, ensuring their availability, equitable distribution and recognition of vaccination certificates, was noted.
The expediency of creating a permanent platform for experts and IT specialists for the exchange of experience and the transfer of innovative solutions in the field of digitalization was emphasized.
Taking into account that 2022 will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the countries of Central Asia, it was proposed to develop a program for joint celebration of this important date.
As a result of the Forum, a Joint Statement was adopted.
