Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 November 2021, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held a meeting with the OSCE Coordinator for Combating Transnational Threats Alena Kupchina in the format of video conference.
During the conversation, the state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE in the Afghan direction were discussed.
Alena Kupchina highly appreciated the position and approaches of the leadership of Uzbekistan in relation to the current situation in Afghanistan, in particular on the need to take measures as soon as possible to improve the humanitarian situation in this country.
Along with this, a thorough exchange of views took place on the OSCE program, consisting of targeted measures to respond to the consequences of the situation in Afghanistan. These measures include: reducing risks at the border, eliminating vulnerabilities and building resilience of communities, seizing opportunities to strengthen cooperation and synergy in the region.
The OSCE Coordinator noted the importance of holding this meeting on the eve of the upcoming OSCE Ministerial Council meeting on 2 December 2021 in Stockholm.
