Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 24 November 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the signing and launching ceremony of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Program for Central Asia for 2022-2025 held in Tashkent.

The event was also attended by UN Deputy Secretary General, UNODC Executive Director Ghada Fathi Waly, Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan Akan Rakhmetullin, Kyrgyzstan - Azizbek Madmarov, Tajikistan - Muzaffar Huseynzoda and Turkmenistan - Vepa Khodzhiev.

“A striking example is projects of a national and regional nature totaling about US$15 million, including the creation of interdepartmental mobile teams and border cooperation offices, as well as the opening of three port control points, which managed to identify and suppress more than 100 serious cases of smuggling for a total of US$14. 6 million," noted Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov

In his speech, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan dwelled on the main areas of cooperation with the UNODC, noted the effectiveness of the previous phase of the Office of transnational threats.
