Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 November 2021, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, during a visit to Brussels, met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell.

Topical issues of Uzbek-European interaction were discussed, which in recent years has shown positive dynamics and is filled with practical content.

The progress in the implementation of joint programs and prospects for the implementation of new projects in areas of mutual interest were considered.

The importance of the early completion of negotiations on the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation, as well as the effective use of the "GSP +" mechanism in trade between Uzbekistan and the EU, was noted.

An agreement was reached on thorough and high-quality preparation for upcoming bilateral and multilateral events, including the meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, the European Union-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting, the European Union-Central Asia Forum on Tourism and others.

A thorough exchange of views took place on the emerging situation in Afghanistan and its impact on regional security.
