Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 November 2021, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held talks with the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas Niklasson in Brussels.
During the conversation, the sides discussed the efforts of Uzbekistan and the European Union to peacefully resolve the Afghan crisis, as well as to provide the country with humanitarian and other assistance as soon as possible.
Thomas Niklasson highly appreciated the assistance of Uzbekistan in evacuating citizens of the EU member states from Afghanistan and expressed interest in further actively cooperating with our country in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as in creating a humanitarian hub in Termez.
The parties also exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, the development of a consolidated position of the international community, both in relation to the new authorities of the country, and the prevention of a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
The sides expressed mutual interest in continuing consultations on the Afghan issue.
