Uzbekistan increases gas supplies to Tajikistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has increased gas supplies to Tajikistan by 2,000 cubic meters per hour, a source at the Tojiktransgaz [Tajik gas transportation] open joint-stock company has told Avesta.

At the moment, 14,500 cubic meters of gas is being imported from the neighbouring country, the source said. Of them, 9,500 cubic meters is going in the southern direction.

The Uzbek side has increased gas supplies at Tajik counterparts’ request to arrange gas supply to a new cement plant in the town of Sarband. The new plant consumes 1,000 cubic meters of gas per hour.

Uzbekistan has again reduced gas supplies to Tajikistan due to debt of the Tajik side for US$17.4 million.
