Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) presents the results of the development of Kashkadarya region over the past five years.
The CERR experts presented the main changes in the socio-economic development of Kashkadarya region that have occurred during the last 5 years of active reforms.
Gross domestic product of the region (GRP) for 2017-2020 increased by 9.8% and amounted to 36.0 trillion soums.
During this period, the service sector in GRP grew from 29.2% to 32.7%, agriculture from 35.8% to 40.3%.
The service market grew by 32% from 5.1 trillion soums up to 10.3 trillion soums.
The volume of industrial production in five years increased by 5.9% from 9.6 trillion soums up to 14.6 trillion soums.
Agricultural production since 2016 increased by 4.4% from 11.1 trillion soums to 24.5 trillion soums in 2020.
The number of enterprises operating in the region in the region increased by 28% from 36.3 thousand in 2016 to 46.6 thousand in 2020.
In the field of infrastructure development for 2016-2020. 29 km of gas pipelines, 73 km of highways and 581 km of water supply networks have been laid.
During this period, about 140 thousand new jobs were created.
Over the past five years, the region has commissioned 5,543 thousand square meters of housing, 12.6 thousand places in preschool institutions, 54.3 thousand places in schools and 3.1 thousand hospital beds.
With a huge economic potential, Kashkadarya region plays an important role in the life of our country, including in the cultivation of agricultural products and the extraction of fuel resources.
The region is the largest supplier of grain and cotton in the country.
Leading industries: natural gas and oil production, gas processing, cotton ginning, oil production, construction materials, textile, food and other industries.
As priority areas for further work in Kashkadarya region, initiatives have been identified to create small industrial zones in each district and city of the region and ensure their connection to the necessary utilities, allocate land plots, empty buildings and structures, create high-tech industrial production in the chemical industry and mechanical engineering. , as well as on the organization of the activities of textile industries with high added value.
The regions of the region are specialized in specific areas of the economy, taking into account market conditions and "points of growth".
Yakkabag, Kamashinsky, Chirakchinsky, Shakhrisabz and Kitab districts will be specialized in horticulture and viticulture. Many petrochemical enterprises can be created in Guzar and Mubarek regions, in Chirakchi and Dehkanabad regions - for the production of building materials. Kasbinsky, Nishansky, Mirishkorsky and Kasansky districts will focus on animal husbandry.
