Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 17 September, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Uzbekistan (with residence in Yerevan) Aram Grigoryan.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Protocol Service Shukhrat Matkarimov, responsible employees of the department, as well as the head of the Department for Analysis and Forecasting of Foreign Economic Activity Erkin Majidov.
The main topics for discussion were the current state and possible prospects of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation. The ambassador was informed about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, including in the field of transformation and privatization of state-owned enterprises, digital economy, innovation, etc.
Aram Grigoryan proposed to consider the issue of organizing the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Armenia. In particular, he put forward proposals to include a number of issues on the agenda of the meeting, incl. in the field of transport, agriculture, the creation of joint ventures in certain industries, the opening of trading houses in the cities of Tashkent and Yerevan, etc.
In turn, the Uzbek side proposed to consider the issue of organizing a Business Forum with the participation of entrepreneurs and business circles within the framework of the planned meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.
In addition, the Uzbek side invited the Armenian side to take part in the international conference "Uzbekistan: Achievements and Prospects of Economic Reforms" which is planned to be held on 29-30 September in Tashkent.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on further mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.
