The International Cultural Forum "Central Asia at the Crossroads of World Civilizations" opens in Khiva
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to implement the initiative put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the 75th UN General Assembly, on 14-16 September 2021, the International Cultural Forum "Central Asia at the Crossroads of World Civilizations" is being held in Khiva under the auspices of UNESCO.
To hold this event at a high level, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 28 April 2021 adopted Resolution No. 247 "On the preparation and holding of the International Cultural Forum" Central Asia at the Crossroads of World Civilizations ".
This forum will be attended by representatives of international organizations UNESCO, SCO, ICOMOS, ICCROM, TURKSOY, about 500 participants, experts from more than 50 CIS countries, the European Union, experts in the field of local cultural heritage, science, art and other areas, media representatives.
Within the framework of the Forum, a concert "Khiva - the capital of Turkic culture" will be organized at the Ichan-Kala Museum-Reserve, as well as a concert program in the "Nurullaboy" complex as part of an official reception on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On 15 September, 2021, in the city of Khiva, in cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Center, the International Advisory Committee on Cultural Heritage in Uzbekistan began its work. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center Jyoti Hosograhar (online), Director General of the International Research Center for the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (ICCROM) Webber Ndoro, UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan Alexandros Makarigakis , cultural experts, as well as committee members.
It should be noted that the activities of the International Advisory Council are aimed at further developing relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO in the field of protection, preservation, popularization and rational use of cultural heritage, preparation of proposals for the inclusion of the country's cultural heritage in the UNESCO heritage.
In addition, a meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the International Organization of Turkic Culture - TURKSOY is scheduled for September 16 this year. The meeting will consider a report on events within the framework of "Khiva - the cultural capital of the Turkic world", a presentation on the cultural capital of TURKSOY in 2022, the election of the Secretary General of TURKSOY in 2021-2024.
A number of events are also planned within the framework of the Cultural Heritage Week, which will take place until September 21. In particular, the V Congress of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan - the basis of the New Renaissance" (Tashkent), the International Conference "Archeology and Tourism: Determining the Potential and Management of Heritage" (Nukus), International Scientific and Theoretical Conference “The role of bakhshi art in world civilization” (Nukus), International festival of bakhshi art (Nukus).
The forum will include more than 10 exhibitions of unique masterpieces of Uzbek art, as well as 50 presentations of unique book-albums "The World Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in World Collections" dedicated to masterpieces from world and local collections of Uzbek art.
