Uzbekistan hands over humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan handed over humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan on 14 September 2021. The ceremony was held in the Afghan city of Hairaton, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reports.

Humanitarian aid consists of flour, various foodstuffs, basic necessities, medicines, clothing and footwear.

This humanitarian aid has become another goodwill gesture of the Uzbek people to fraternal Afghanistan, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry notes.

Speaking at the ceremony, the official representative of the interim government of Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid, on behalf of the entire Afghan people, expressed deep gratitude to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the great attention, support and solidarity shown in these difficult times for the country.

It was especially noted that one of the first to respond to the call to help the people of Afghanistan was the Head of Uzbekistan, whose policy is viewed by the multinational people of Afghanistan as a true manifestation of humanism, brotherhood and good neighborliness.

The Governor of Balkh Province Kudratillo Abu Hamza noted not only the timeliness of this humanitarian assistance, but also its special relevance, which was another proof of the historical, cultural and spiritual ties between our two peoples going back centuries.

According to him, this assistance will in fact help Afghanistan to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, as well as to actually prevent a possible humanitarian and food crisis in the country.
