Uzbek leader approves programme on Namangan region’s industrialization
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On programme of industrial development and modernization of production in Namangan region for 2009-2012” on 14 August.

The document is directed at further developing industrial potential of Namangan region, first of all, deep industrial processing of agriculture products and natural resources for production of ready products.

The resolution said the main directions of industrialization of Namangan region are creation of high-technological capacities, including localization of production materials, raw materials, spare parts and components for oil and gas industry, automobile industry, electronics and railway and development of enterprises of textile and clothing industry, silk industry, construction materials industry, etc.

The document said the industrial production of Namangan region will increase from 434.5 billion soums in 2008 to 960 billion soums in 2012, or it will grow 2.2 times. Industrial output will make up 510 billion soums in 2009, 670 billion soums in 2010 and 810 billion soums in 2011.

Production of consumer goods in the region will increase from 266.5 billion soums in 2009 to 611.2 billion soums in 2012. The growth rate will make up 2.3 times. Output of non-food products will rise by 2.9 times to 170.5 billion soums in 2012.

Output of food goods will grow from 207.7 billion soums in 2008 to 440/7 billion soums in 2012, the document said.

The resolution also approve list of projects on expansion of production capacities and creation of new ones on production of non-food products, which will be realized in Namangan region, within 2009-2012. Total cost of the project is 50.163 billion soums, of which 43.688 billion soums are own resources of the enterprises and 6.475 billion soums are loans of the banks.

The region will also implement projects on expansion of existing capacities, creation of new capacities on production, processing and storage of agriculture products. The region will realize projects for 24.68 billion soums within 2009-2012.

The resolution approved a programme of new projects with attraction of foreign investments. The programme envisages to attract US$45.8 million of foreign investments in 2009-2012, but the final volume of the investments can change after approval of feasibility studies of the projects.

The document approved other programmes and lists, which are directed to creation of jobs and capacities in the region.
