Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 June, the first meeting of the Council was held, headed by the Chairman of the Board of Uzpromstroybank, Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Building Materials Industry.
Officials of Uzpromstroybank, Uzpromstroimaterialy Association, State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade took part in the meeting, which was held in the format of videoconference.
The meeting discussed the execution of instructions given at the video conference held on 30 April 2021, chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dedicated to measures for the further development of the production of building materials and local industry in the regions, as well as measures taken to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the head of our state of 9 June "On additional measures to increase the industrial potential of the regions."
It was noted that the regions do not fully use the existing industrial potential, especially the possibilities of developing the raw material base of nonmetallic minerals, which is necessary for the development of the construction industry. In particular, most of the explored deposits of expanded clay, silicate sand, glass raw materials, building and facing stones remain undeveloped. As a result, in the domestic market, the share of domestic products for sanitary facilities is only 40 percent, aerated concrete blocks - 51 percent, paints and varnishes - 65 percent, building glass - 70 percent, wall wallpaper - 30 percent.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the formation of the Council for the Development of the Building Materials Industry will serve by ensuring, together with all industry institutions and entrepreneurs, the systematic development of the construction industry, creating an unbreakable chain in our country - from the natural raw material base to the production of finished products with added value.
At present, Uzpromstroybank, together with the Association "Uzpromstroymaterialy", local khokimiyats have begun work on the accelerated development of the sphere. In particular, in order to develop the industry, a special department has been formed in the Bank, in all its regional branches there are centers for developing industry business projects and providing practical assistance to entrepreneurs, as well as organizing inextricable interaction with local khokimiyats.
Specialists-economists, geologists of deposits of nonmetallic minerals, process engineers of the building materials industry, managers for the design of production of building materials are involved in the work.
The centers provide information on mineral deposits in the regions, market conditions, the necessary equipment, training courses organized, as well as assistance to business entities in the development of projects, business plans, feasibility studies of projects.
In addition, with the involvement of experts from the international company "BCG" together with the Association "Uzpromstroymaterialy", work has begun to find ways to solve the existing problems of large enterprises in the industry.
In particular, with the assistance of international experts, together with the relevant ministries and departments, work is underway to develop and approve the Program for the accelerated development of local industries and increasing the export potential of the regions in 2022-2026.
Special attention is paid to the dialogue with entrepreneurs, the study of their proposals. For this purpose, a working group has been created consisting of members of the Bank's Management Board and officials of the Association "Uzpromstroymaterialy", studies are underway in the regions on 1,019 projects worth $ 5.25 billion, as well as the identification of new promising projects.
Also, work is underway to create special industrial zones in order to organize clusters of building materials on the territory of 24 specialized districts and cities, including the further expansion of the production of import-substituting products.
Together with the Uzpromstroymaterialy Association, 212 projects worth US$1.7 billion have been formed in specialized regions and cities. As a result of the projects implementation, 11,763 jobs will be created.
In order to organize financing of sectoral projects worth $ 500 million, the Bank is working to raise funds in the amount of US$300 million.
At the meeting, the information of the responsible persons on the agenda items was heard. The tasks ahead have been outlined.
