Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov took part in the business form "Tatarstan-Uzbekistan". The delegation of Tatarstan headed by Rustam Minnikhanov is in Tashkent on a working visit. This was reported by the press service of the President of Tatarstan.
Before the start of the forum, an inspection of the exhibition of industrial enterprises of Tatarstan, which was organized at the National Exhibition Complex "UzExpoCentre", took place. 14 enterprises presented their expositions: JSC Kazan Helicopter Plant, LLC Eidos-Medicine, JSC Khimgrad, JSC PO ElAZ and so on.
Opening the forum, Rustam Minnikhanov noted the importance of work at the regional level within the framework of Russian-Uzbek relations. “I would like to express my gratitude for the attention and support for the development of interregional cooperation to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev,” the President of the Republic of Tatarstan noted.
In turn, Sardor Umurzakov thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for his personal participation in the forum. “Tatarstan occupies a special place in our strategic partnership with the Russian Federation. We highly appreciate our trusting cooperation. Almost 300 thousand Tatars live in Uzbekistan today. In turn, almost 9 thousand of our compatriots live in Tatarstan. I would also like to note our cultural and linguistic similarities. It is important to continue strengthening and expanding our ties, ”concluded the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
Interaction between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan is built on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement signed in 1993. In addition, Uzbekistan is one of the first republics on whose territory a representative office of Tatarstan appeared.
To restore trade, which during the pandemic decreased by 19.7% and amounted to US$156 million by the end of 2020, it is necessary to work on increasing the volume and range of mutual goods and services, the forum participants noted. Representative offices of a number of Tatarstan enterprises operate in Uzbekistan today. These are the KAMAZ auto center in Tashkent (2018), the KAMAZ assembly line in Samarkand (2019), work is underway on the Tatneft line.
The interest of the republic today in terms of supplying products to Uzbekistan is determined by such areas as helicopters of the MI series, ANSATs of various modifications, petrochemical products, agricultural machinery, automobile tires, Halal products, etc.
