Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A delegation from Tajikistan paid a visit to several agriculture enterprises. The delegation was led by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan Karimzoda Sadi Gafor.

The First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan expressed his gratitude to the government and people of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and, in general, stable and fruitful cooperation.

“There are sufficient internal resources on the basis of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The implementation of regular negotiations, the establishment of close contacts and the exchange of experience in all areas of agriculture will contribute to an increase in mutual trade. Analyzes show that the volume of agricultural production in the Republic of Tajikistan is increasing every year, the share of the private sector in the development of agriculture is becoming more stable. The country has a positive dynamics of growth in agricultural production, high rates of production of grain, potatoes, vegetables, fruits and other major agricultural crops. And our ministry expresses interest in developing cooperation with Uzbek colleagues in a number of key areas,” said First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Karimzoda Sadi Gafor.

So, as the main areas of mutual cooperation, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan outlined:

- development of cooperation of agro-industrial enterprises in the field of cultivation of certain types of crops, the creation of intensive orchards and livestock complexes, as well as the exchange of experience in the field of fish farming;

- establishing cooperation on the implementation of joint projects in the field of testing and introduction of varieties of agricultural plants, selection achievements, as well as the use of technologies for their cultivation;

- strengthening the interaction of research institutes with the aim of accelerating the development of seed production and obtaining highly productive varieties of grain, oilseeds and cotton;

- development of joint measures in the field of plant protection, disease prevention and control of agricultural pests and locusts in border areas;

- study of the experience of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the creation of agricultural clusters;

- exchange of experience in the field of digitalization of agriculture and forecasting the yield of agricultural production through digital technology;

- consideration of the issue of cooperation between specialized educational institutions, as well as the participation of specialists in the field of agriculture at conferences, symposia, seminars, round tables held in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the visit, the Tajik delegation for two days visited the AKIS Agricultural Knowledge, Innovation and Services Center, intensive orchards, greenhouses, livestock and poultry farms, the Fish Farming Center at the Extension Center at the Agrarian University, the in-vitro laboratory and the agricultural processing laboratory at Tashkent State Agrarian University, as well as other agricultural facilities.

On 15 May 2021, the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was held in Tashkent. The meeting was chaired by the co-chairs of the commission - Prime Minister of Uzbekistan A. Aripov and Prime Minister of Tajikistan K. Rasulzoda.
