Korean corporation to implement agricultural projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Korean Rural Development Corporation (KRDC) headed by Deputy Director Mr. Lee Sang Bong visited the Republic of Uzbekistan from 21 April to 6 May 2021. Within the framework of negotiations, which took place at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, agreements were reached on attracting grant funds from the Korean government in the amount of 4.5 billion Korean won (4 million dollars).
The main purpose of the visit was negotiations and development of a project to create a Training Center for advanced technologies for fruit and vegetable production in Uzbekistan and assistance in transferring advanced experience to Uzbek specialists to improve the efficiency of agricultural production.
“The project is a logical continuation of bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture. Within the framework of the project, Korean specialists will hold consultations on agricultural policy issues, provide specialized equipment needed in agriculture, and organize training for Uzbek specialists in South Korea,” said Deputy Director of the Corporation Lee Sang Bong.
The project will be implemented from 2021 to 2025, the grant funds will be used to build the infrastructure of the AKIS Agricultural Services Center in Yuqorichirchiq district of Tashkent region. The center is designed to train farmers in agricultural technologies, increase the potential of employees, as well as improve the qualifications of professionals through educational and training programs. It is worth noting that this center, as well as other similar AKIS centers, which will be created and opened during 2021 and 2022 in all regions of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, are part of the implementation of the Agriculture Development Strategy until 2030.
"This assistance is very timely in light of the launch of the agricultural knowledge and innovation system of the Republic of Uzbekistan (AKIS), operating in the continuous provision of modern agricultural services and incorporating such areas as education, science and innovation in the agro-industrial sector," said the adviser to the Minister of Agriculture. economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Shukurov.
On the basis of the existing infrastructure (including the greenhouse and refrigeration facilities built within the framework of the Korean project), as an experiment, it is allowed to create small scientific and innovative enterprises in research institutions of the AKIS system with the involvement of business entities.
As a result of the trip of Korean specialists to Uzbekistan, a document was signed with a detailed plan for the upcoming work on the construction of the Training Center.
