Uzbekistan-Japan: issues of expanding cooperation in the field of agriculture discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of work to promote economic diplomacy, attract foreign investment in the economy, as well as increase the export potential of the republic, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan carried out a business trip to Takharu, Aichi prefecture.
During the trip, meetings and negotiations were held with the mayor of the city of Tahars Ya Masayoshi, the president of the Agricultural Cooperative "Aichi Minami" Teruhiko Suzuki, the chairman of the agricultural committee of the city of Tahara Koji Yamamoto, the leadership of the Japanese companies "Takamura Company", "JIC Cooperative".
At a meeting with the mayor of Tahara Y. Masayoshi, the investment potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan was presented, as well as the results achieved over the past four years in the liberalization of the economy, improvement of macroeconomic indicators, conditions for investors and business people, benefits and preferences for investors, detailed information about the “Updated Uzbekistan”, reforms in agriculture and the development of clusters to create a value chain.
In turn, Mayor Y. Masayoshi, noting that this is the first visit of representatives of the CIS countries to Takharu, stressed the interest in establishing cooperation and expanding partnership relations with the cities of Uzbekistan. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the preparation of proposals for the joint study of issues of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
Also, meetings were held with the President of the Agricultural Cooperative "Aichi Minami" T. Suzuki, Chairman of the Agricultural Committee of the city of Tahara K. Yamomoto on the exchange of experience in growing various crops and establishing cooperation with ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan. An agreement was also reached to work out the issue of sending Uzbek specialists to the farms of the Aichi Minami cooperative, as well as to hold an online “business seminar” to highlight the agricultural potential of Uzbekistan for Japanese farms.
Representatives of Uzbekistan also got acquainted with greenhouses specializing in the cultivation of Japanese melons and figs. The technology of growing popular varieties of melons and figs in Japan was studied in detail.
Also, negotiations were held with the management of the Japanese company "Takamura Company", which produces from soybeans a well-known and popular product in Japan called "natto".
Natto is a traditional Japanese dish made from fermented soybeans and is known to be very nutritious. Studies have revealed the presence of the enzyme nattokinaze in it, which helps dissolve blood clots that can cause a stroke or heart attack. It contains vitamin K2, which helps prevent osteoporosis, and polyamines that slow down aging. Nagoya University is currently studying the benefits of natto in the fight against coronavirus.
The technology of production of the product and its production possibilities in Uzbekistan, including from soybeans grown in the republic, were studied in detail.
