Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis adopted in the first reading the draft law “On Advertising”.
The draft law proposes to introduce norms that regulate and restrict certain relations in order to create ample opportunities for participants in the advertising market.
In particular, the bill stipulates the permission to distribute advertising through the mobile network only with the consent of the consumer, the prohibition of advertising the drug in the presence of a celebrity, a medical professional or a person who looks like a doctor, as well as alcoholic beverages. Along with this, it is planned to ban advertising of foods high in sugar, salt and fat.
At the meeting, the deputies paid special attention to the regulation of activities on the Internet and external advertising in the framework of improving the bill.
It was emphasized that today, in contrast to traditional advertising on TV and radio channels, Internet advertising, outdoor digital advertising and many other types of advertising have appeared. Among these, the most widespread and difficult to regulate is online advertising.
The deputies proposed to introduce the concept of Internet advertising into legislation to regulate Internet advertising, to determine the scope of national legislation, a mechanism for regulating the placement of Internet advertising in Uzbekistan.
The people’s representatives also put forward a proposal on the condition that the charter and provisions in the by-laws, which are expected to appear in connection with the adoption of the draft law "On Advertising", must necessarily be developed on the basis of the conclusions of specialists in the field, experts.
