Uzbekistan - Saudi Arabia: strengthening ties and expanding cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 May, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud, during which issues were discussed multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Prospects for holding in May of this year the 4th round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries in the format of a videoconference were considered. The event will allow exchanging views on issues of the international agenda of mutual interest, as well as discussing the current state and prospects for the development of multifaceted bilateral cooperation.
The Saudi side highly appreciated the large-scale and dynamic socio-economic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the Head of State, and expressed its readiness to provide comprehensive support in their implementation.
They also touched upon issues to be considered within the agenda of the 4th meeting of the Uzbek-Saudi Intergovernmental Commission. It was noted that the effective and regular holding of meetings of the heads of ministries and departments of the two countries in a similar format will significantly strengthen bilateral relations and create a platform for the accelerated promotion of joint projects and initiatives.
The parties noted with satisfaction the intensification of relations between the parliaments of the two countries: the developing constructive dialogue creates opportunities for a regular exchange of views on the prospects for cooperation in trade, economic, investment, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other fields. In this context, the practical results of the meetings of the Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia Interparliamentary Friendship Group held in March and April of this year were highly appreciated.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on close cooperation on the implementation of agreed initiatives and existing agreements between the two countries.
