Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- One of the largest facilities in the gas industry in Central Asia got its grandiose start exactly three years ago. On 19 April 2018, reports on the solemn ceremony of launching the Kandym gas processing complex (KGPc) with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spread all over the world.
Among the endless desert dunes of Karakul region of Bukhara region, like a mirage, a majestic giant appears before the gaze - the Kandym gas processing complex with a capacity of 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
KGPC is the largest LUKOIL project in the Republic of Uzbekistan with a total investment of US$3.5 billion.
To implement such an ambitious project in terms of its scale and significance, LUKOIL for the first time in Uzbekistan has applied innovative technologies from world-renowned companies. For the first time in Uzbekistan, 3 licensed processes have been introduced at the GPC: the technological process for removing acidic components using an amine solvent OASE ™ (BASF, Germany), the technological process for cleaning regeneration gases SELEXOL ™ (UOP, Great Britain) and the technological process for producing SUPERCLAUS® sulfur (JACOBS, the Netherlands).
It is noteworthy that the start of construction was also given on 19 April - in 2016, exactly two years before its commissioning. From that day on, the construction of the plant did not stop for a single day. 10 thousand workers and specialists worked on the construction of the gigantic complex and its infrastructure.
The supplies of equipment and materials were provided by suppliers from 30 countries, which include Russia, the Republic of Korea, China, Japan, Italy, Germany, USA, England, Czech Republic, France, Uzbekistan and other countries.
As a result of far-sighted planning and effective management of the company’s management, as well as the titanic efforts of LUKOIL’s employees and its contractors, a huge technological oasis was spread on a desert plain with an area of more than 50 hectares 8 months ahead of the project deadline.
KGPC is a unique complex with modern engineering and high-tech infrastructure. The heart of the complex is a gas processing plant with 2 technological lines with a capacity of 4.05 billion m3 of gas. The complex produces commercial gas, stable gas condensate and sulfur.
The complex includes pre-plant facilities, an external water supply system (55 km), an electrical substation and power lines (268 km), gas collection systems, six well pads, 71 wells, an export gas pipeline (70 km), highways (285 km), as well as a rotational camp for 1150 people, which has all the conditions for comfortable living and good rest for employees.
The launch of the complex contributes to solving the problem set for the oil and gas industry by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in terms of in-depth processing of natural raw materials using modern advanced technologies. Since the beginning of operation, the accumulated volume of gas production at Kandym has amounted to 21.3 billion cubic meters. gas, about 225 (224.521) thousand tons were produced. condensate, 576 (576.344) thousand tons. commercial sulfur.
The launch of the KGPC gave a huge impetus to the development of the region’s infrastructure and made it possible to create new jobs, attract young personnel to work in modern production.
As soon as the sun sets over the horizon, in the night desert darkness among the sand dunes, millions of lights light up, forming a whole glowing city. The bird’s-eye view of Kandym is especially incredible, from where a mesmerizing panorama of twinkling lights opens up. The impressive scale of the Kandym gas processing complex evokes admiration for the "miracle" created by man.
