Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 February 2021, within the framework of a working visit to Turkmenistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.
During the talks, the heads of the foreign ministries discussed the current state and prospects for further intensification of the Uzbek-Turkmen relations in the political, trade and economic, transport and communication, water management, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
The issues of interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations were considered.
Particular attention was paid to the current situation in Central Asia, the ongoing joint work on the further development of regional cooperation and the opening opportunities for reaching a new - interregional level of interconnection.
The Minister invited the Turkmen side to the International High-Level Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”, which will be held this year in Tashkent.
Following the event, a Cooperation Program was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for 2021-2022.
