Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Uzbekistan is developing five new Codes, including healthcare, NGOs, environmental, informational, and entrepreneurial. This is envisaged in the National Human Rights Strategy.
What was implemented within the framework of the National Strategy in 2020 was discussed at the meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on Compliance with the International Commitments of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of human rights held on 22 January 2021.
The representatives of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, the Ministry of Justice, the Ombudsman for the Rights of the Child informed about the progress in the implementation of the National Strategy on Human Rights and the corresponding "Road Map".
The National Strategy on Human Rights was adopted on 22 June 2020 at the initiative of the President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev and became the first strategic document in the history of Uzbekistan that defined a set of long-term targeted measures to ensure personal, political, economic, social and cultural human rights.
Of the 78 points of the Roadmap, 32 were implemented in 2020. In particular, the Strategy provides for the development of 33 draft laws, including 20 new ones, of which 4 new laws have already been adopted: “On Education” (new edition), “On Combating Human Trafficking "(New edition)," On employment of the population "and" On the rights of persons with disabilities. "
As noted above, 5 new codes are being developed, as well as new editions of existing codes: civil, labor, criminal, criminal procedural, penal, housing and the Code of Administrative Responsibility.
On 3 November 2020, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was adopted, which approved the Regulation on the badge “For the protection of human rights”.
A special training module "Human Dignity is the Highest Value" is designed to improve the qualifications of law enforcement officials. To date, more than 500 managers have been trained.
The specialty "Human Rights" was established and the Scientific Council for the awarding of scientific degrees in this specialty was established.
