DAAD provides 91 scholarships in 2009

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provided 91 scholarships to students, candidates for master’s degree, post-graduates, and doctoral students of Uzbekistanin 2009. The ceremony of presenting certificates was held at the German Embassy in Tashkent on 9 June.
Besides individual grants, DAAD provided several group grants. German organization provides about 350 grants for citizens of Uzbekistan annually.
The main purpose of DAAD activity in Uzbekistan is scientific cooperation between Germany and Uzbekistan on a number of directions, including education system, research work or study in Germany, assistance to Uzbek students, graduates of universities within the framework of scholarship programmes, financing of short-term and long-term visit of German scientists in universities of Uzbekistan, scientific cooperation between German and Uzbek universities, holding scientific conferences in Uzbekistan in frames of partnerships between universities, and so on.
About 50 partnerships between universities of Uzbekistan and Germany are registered now.
German Ambassador of Uzbekistan Matthias Mayer handed over language diplomas of the second level f Secretariat of Permanent Conference of Ministers of Culture of Federal Lands of Germany.
