Members of international terrorist organization identified and detained in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 June 2020, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs, and the State Security Service of Tashkent conducted operational activities in the course of which the illegal activities of adherents of the group of the international terrorist organization “Tawhid va jihod katibashi” (TJC) were exposed, which clandestinely operated in the territories of Tashkent and Tashkent region. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to reports, these individuals fell under the influence of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Abdukakhakharov, born in 2001, acting in the ranks of the TJC of the international terrorist organization in Syria today, as well as his followers, discussing videos of an extremist nature in order to commit “hijrat” and “jihad”, as well as planned to leave for the Syrian Arab Republic.

It is worth noting that among these individuals, three previously were punished for committing a crime related to terrorism and extremism, but they did not draw any conclusions for themselves, but instead restored this activity.

In accordance with part 1 of article 2442 (creation, leadership, participation in religious extremist, separatist, fundamentalist or other prohibited organizations), as part of the criminal case, search was conducted at 25 addresses in Almazar, Uchtepa, Chilanzar, Yakkasaray and Sergeli districts of Tashkent, Zangiata district of Tashkent region, 25 people were detained.

In the places of residence of the detained persons, material evidence was found regarding the crime. Investigative measures are underway.
