Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbek experts located in the UK these days, led by ISMI Deputy Director S. Valiev, took part in a scientific and practical seminar at the University of St Andrews at Scotland, Dunyo reported.
The event was dedicated to socio-economic modernization and the priorities of foreign policy of Uzbekistan, as well as modern processes taking place in Central Asia. The discussion was attended by faculty, doctoral students and students of a British university, as well as experts from research centers specializing in the study of Central Asia.
The forum participants were informed about the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan as part of the Action Strategy, as well as the medium-term priorities identified in the Message of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Parliament. Particular attention is paid to the pragmatic and constructive foreign policy pursued by the country's leadership, which opens up new opportunities for developing cooperation with foreign partners, including the United Kingdom.
The British experts who spoke at the event emphasized that, thanks to the policy of Uzbekistan in Central Asia, a favorable atmosphere has formed that contributes to the strengthening of friendly and good-neighborly relations between the states of the region, the expansion and deepening of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
According to Filippo Buranelli, a professor at the School of International Relations at the University of St. Andrews, holding regular Consultative Meetings of Central Asian leaders is a breakthrough initiative in Uzbekistan and represents the most optimal format for regional cooperation in the current environment.
Highly appreciating the role of the republic in solving the urgent problems of the region on the basis of reasonable mutual compromises and for the achievement of common long-term interests, the expert emphasized that such an approach could become an effective model for other countries and regions.
Representatives of St. Andrews University expressed great interest in the development of scientific and academic relations with universities and analytical centers of Uzbekistan. Following the results of negotiations, an agreement was reached on conducting joint research and scientific events, as well as organizing a trip for researchers and university students to Uzbekistan this year.
