Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 10 January, the Academy of the Armed Forces, chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held an expanded meeting of the Security Council on issues of further development and reform of the national army.
The event was attended by members of the Security Council, the leadership of the Armed Forces, ministries and departments, as well as through video conferencing - the heads of regions, the command of military districts and military units, representatives of public organizations. Information is provided on work in the field of strengthening the country’s defense capability.
The meeting summed up the results of large-scale work on the development of the Armed Forces, gave a critical assessment of the activities of ministries and departments, as well as local government bodies involved in the implementation of the tasks of development and reform of the national army.
The President noted that on the basis of the Development Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, along with other spheres of the country’s life, large-scale transformations were also carried out in the field of military construction, thereby achieving concrete results in such a short period of time and developing a strategic vision of our Armed Forces.
It was emphasized that in the current conditions of confrontation in the information space, the intensification of the struggle for “minds and hearts”, especially of the younger generation, the role and place of military-patriotic education is significantly increasing.
Additional instructions were given to improve the system of military-patriotic education of the population, primarily youth, to involve in the process of reforms carried out in the country, to realize its intellectual and creative potential.
- The army in material terms can be provided with all the most modern and necessary, however, a weak moral component, lack of fighting spirit, devotion, a feeling of love for the motherland, responsibility for its fate, indifference can lead to irreversible consequences, the head of state noted.
Other important areas of reform and development of the Armed Forces were also considered.
Following the meeting, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces made recommendations and set specific tasks for officials to organize further work in the field of strengthening the country’s defense capability.
