The first international investment forum of the Syrdarya region takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 August, the first international investment forum of the Syrdarya region was held in the city of Gulistan, in which representatives of government agencies, domestic and foreign business circles, heads of foreign diplomatic missions, international organizations and financial institutions, and also representatives of the media took part.
The forum was organized by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade in cooperation with the khokimiyat of the Syrdarya region.
At the opening ceremony of the Forum, the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov made a welcoming speech, who noted the importance of holding international events aimed at attracting investments to the regions, given the significant industrial potential and favorable conditions for business development created in line with the ongoing reforms in the Republic and changes.
During the speech, the region’s unique opportunities in trade, economic and investment spheres were also voiced, bearing in mind the advantageous geographical position, resource base, and provision of infrastructure and labor resources.
Also, within the framework of the forum, sectional meetings were held on priority areas for the development of the region, such as attracting foreign direct investment, economic development, agriculture, the development of alternative energy, ecotourism, agrotourism, as well as the development of the industrial sector.
A separate reception was held for the heads of diplomatic missions from the khokimiyat of the Syrdarya region.
In the continuation of the program, a B2B cooperation exchange was organized, the opening of an exhibition of national goods and a briefing on behalf of the khokimiyat of Syrdarya region, during which the results of the forum were summed up - trade and investment agreements totaling over US$200 million were signed as part of the Forum’s events.
