Uzbek Agriculture Ministry, UNDP and MASHAV sign MoU
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Israeli Centre for International Cooperation (MASHAV) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 21 January.

The document creates a legal base for the further realization of the joint project "On sustainable development of livestock in the Republic of Uzbekistan", which is being realized as a pilot project in several districts of Tashkent region, a press release of Israeli embassy in Tashkent said.

The undersigned parties agreed to cooperate together within the framework of the project, in order to give advice on how to improve dairy cattle production and dairy cattle management of Uzbek farmers; to share know-how and technology, by conducting a number of trainings in Israel and Uzbekistan; to provide assistance in obtaining genetic material and equipment for artificial insemination. The project will assist in the improving of milk production and livestock breeding, with a comprehensive approach.

Before signing the MOU, Israeli experts together with representatives of UNDP and the Israeli Embassy in Uzbekistan, visited farms in the Tashkent region. The delegation was impressed by the implementation of the knowledge attained in training courses in Israel and Uzbekistan in the practical work of the farmers.

According to the plan of the Joint project on sustainable development of livestock, Israeli experts on design of modern dairy farming, herd books, nutrition and forage will come to Uzbekistan in order to conduct a number of seminars in the year of 2009.
