"Uzbekistan-Japan" Friendship Association sums up 2008 results
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Members of the "Uzbekistan-Japan" Friendship Association summed up the results of 2008 and evaluated the performance of the Association and the prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in 2009. The meeting was held in Tokyo.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Ministe advisor, a member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese parliament Kyoko Nakayama, the spouse of the former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe - Akie Abe, former Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Koichi Obata, Executive Director of the Institute of Central Asia and Caucasus Tezuji Tanaka, and the representatives of socio-political, academic and business circles of Japan, Jahon reported.

During the meeting of the Association it was emphasized that the past year was remarkable in terms of the development and deepening of friendly relations between Japan and Uzbekistan. The tenth anniversary of the Japan-Uzbekistan Friendship Association was widely celebrated, Central Asia and Japan International Symposium and various cultural and social events and presentations about Uzbekistan were held. They vividly demonstrated Uzbek nation’s rich cultural and artistic heritage and the country’s tourism sites to the Japanese people.

During the meeting participants specifically pointed out the importance of the September trip of the members of the Association to the historical cities of Uzbekistan. The trip was organized on the occasion of the anniversary date.

A documentary prepared by the Japanese party about the trip of the members of the Association to Uzbekistan was demonstrated to the participants of the event.

A delegation of young musicians from Uzbekistan headed by the Director of the Republican Special Musical Lyceum named after R. Glier, B Kurbanov was invited to attend the event. They were visiting Japan with the purpose of participating in the 13th International Festival of Youth Orchestras Gunma. They performed items from national Uzbek and classical music collection.
