Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Medvedev arrived in Uzbekistan with a state visit on 22 January on the invitation of the President Islam Karimov.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov welcomed the high-ranking guest at the airport of Samarkand.
The Uzbek-Russian relations have been developing on the basis of the principles of strategic partnership. The regular meetings at high level bring the trade-economic, investment, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation to a new level.
The economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia occupies a special place in the bilateral relations. This partnership covers almost all spheres and serves to consistent development of many other spheres. The share of Russia in the foreign trade of Uzbekistan makes up 20%.
Hundreds of joint ventures created with Russian partners function in Uzbekistan. Business forums and exhibitions aimed at development of trade-economic and investment cooperation are held regularly.
