Ajou University to open in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ajou University (Republic of Korea) will open in Tashkent.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On establishment of Ajou University in the city of Tashkent”.

The university will train specialists in the field of construction, architecture, electrical engineering, economics and other popular areas of education in accordance with the prospects for the socio-economic development of the country.

Admission of applicants and certification of graduates of the University are carried out in accordance with the requirements, procedures and terms established by the Ajou University (Republic of Korea) in coordination with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The University carries out educational activities on the basis of the curricula and programs of the Ajou University (Republic of Korea), taking into account the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of education.

The document said that university graduates will receive a diploma from the South Korea’s Ajou University. The diploma will be recognized as a document on higher education in Uzbekistan.

The University is financed by funds received for teaching students on a paid-contract basis, income from economic activities and the provision of services on a contractual basis, charitable donations from legal entities and individuals, technical assistance (grants) provided by interested organizations, and other sources not prohibited by law.

Organization of admission to the University for the 2019/2020 academic year, including repair and construction work on the preparation of buildings and structures for the beginning of the school year, development and adaptation of curricula, acquisition of educational and research laboratories, the creation of the necessary information and communication training systems, and the selection of faculty members will be carried out at the expense of the State budget of Uzbekistan.

Uzbek President established an order according to which for students - citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who were accepted for study in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic years, will receive financial aid to pay part of tuition fee (except in cases, when tuition fee is paid by legal entities and potential employers).

Graduates of the University, who are provided with state support are subject to distribution to work with the condition of working for at least three years in state organizations of the republic in their specialty.
