Public Education Ministry invites to cooperate in implementation of IT-Nation project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan has initiated an IT-Nation project, which aims to revise the school curriculum in order to train graduates with the necessary skills for professions in the field of information technology. This was announced today by the Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov at the opening ceremony of the festival GDG-Tashkent - DevFest.

Uzbekistan does not have access to the sea, which increases the cost of goods on the international market due to high transport costs and this affects the competitiveness of Uzbek products. At the same time, the field of information technology is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and Uzbekistan needs to focus on the training of specialists who can develop and export ICT products and services.

Given these factors, the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan has begun the process of revising curricula and textbooks on computer science to meet market requirements.

The IT industry provides great opportunities for young people, so that they can find work and earn decent money after graduating from school, via the Internet, without leaving their home country. Now several universities train specialists in this field, but international experience shows that Uzbekistan have to teach children the basics of programming from school.

“Now our training programs are aimed at training users of ready-made software, and not developers. The goal of the IT-Nation project is to change this situation and prepare future programmers, designers, testers and other specialists in the field of information technology, and generally create opportunities for mastering the professions of the future,” the minister said.

He said that the Ministry of Public Education invites the IT community to take part in the transformation of computer science curricula, as they know better which specialists with what skills they will need in 5-10 years.

Representatives of the IT community can join the working group or share their ideas and suggestions by sending an email to informatikauz@gmail.com and informatika@xtv.uz.

At the opening ceremony of DevFest, Shermatov called on young people to set ambitious goals and, as an example, he cited the project to create Inha University in Tashkent, at the beginning of which 5 years ago the task was to create one of the best universities in Uzbekistan. And now Inha University in Tashkent has become a place where the best applicants who want to really learn and achieve the best results are striving to get.
