During his trip, Lazar Comanescu met Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev, Speaker of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan (lower house of Uzbek parliament) Dilorom Tasmuhamedova, Foreign Affairs Minister Vladimir Norov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade Nasriddin Najimov.
The sides discussed issues of boosting bilateral relations, including strengthening of political dialogue and economic cooperation, including trade. They also exchanged opinions over the regional problems and developments. Romanian Foreign Minister welcomed Uzbekistan’s initiatives on strengthening civil society and human rights.
“The key issues at my meetings with the Uzbek senior officials were mutual interest to establish powerful, pragmatic relations, which would strengthen role of each country in their respective region,” Lazar Comanescu declared at the end of the visit.
“The Romanian technology and products, the expertise in exploitation of oil and gas, energy and environment, the management of waters, the organization of the territory and the rural development are appreciated in Uzbekistan, and we agreed with the Uzbek party to look for means and bring them back on this market. Similarly, the products of Uzbekistan and its important natural resources have in Romania a competitive platform of accession to the European unique market,” the Romanian Minister also said.
