Uzbekistan 19/11/2008 CSTO to open public information center in Kyrgyzstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Collective Security Treaty Organization will open its public information center in Kyrgyzstan. The organization’s Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha told meeting the Kyrgyz Security Council Secretary Adahan Madumarov, the CSTO press service reported.

“Adahan Madumarov supported Russia’s initiatives to prepare a new treaty on European security. Bordyuzha and Madumarov also discussed activity of the CSTO Parliament Assembly, and considered that it is important to add more practical matter,” the message read.

The parties also discussed perspectives of the CSTO development and adaptation to the new geopolitical situation. Other covered issues were improvement of organization’s work in the foreign policy coordination, military cooperation, counteraction to the new challenges and threats, informational and analytical provision.

Particularly, Madumarov pointed out the neediness to unify migration legislation in the CSTO format. In order to carry out this, the politicians voted for holding a joint Parliament Assembly session, Security Council Secretary Committee and Coordination Council of the heads of migration agencies of member countries.

Madumarov also met with his Russian colleague, Nickolai Patrushev.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
