Mobile users’ number almost doubles this year
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Number of mobile subscribers in Uzbekistan almost doubled in ten months of 2008, the State Commission on Radio Frequencies of Uzbekistan under the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information said on Monday, 17 November.
The Commission said that the number of mobile users in Uzbekistan reached 11.595 million or increased by 96.9% or 5.7 million people compared to the beginning of 2008.
About 713,000 new users subscribed to mobile operators in October.
Currently, five mobile operators work in Uzbekistan, including MTS-Uzbekistan (Unzdunrobota, GSM standard), Beeline (Unitel, GSM standard), Ucell (Coscom, GSM standard), Perfectum Mobile (Rubicon Wireless Communication, CDMA standard) and Uzbektelecom Mobile (CDMA standard).
